Week 4 Home Learning

Land Art

Get outside this week and enjoy using the nature around you to have a go at creating a piece of Land Art.

Land Artists try to learn about nature by making art out of natural things that they find. It's also about being out in nature, experiencing nature, having fun and exploring natural places.

Step 1: Explore: So let your imagination run free. Run around and explore, find hidden and magical places and search out the little creatures that you might find under a log or in a rock pool.

And if you find something you like, something interesting or colourful like a shapely rock or a pretty coloured leaf, then why not use it to make a Land Art sculpture?

Step 2. Collect: Leaves, pine cones, twigs, stones, pebbles, sand, bark, whatever comes to hand.
Step 3. Select: Choose a spot to create your masterpiece.
Step 4. Decide What to Make: Study the materials you have collected and see what colours and shapes you like the most and use those things in your sculpture. There are no rules in Land Art.
Step 5. Create: Now it is time to make your art. You could collect things that are all the same colour and make a pattern, or a line or a shape with them. You can
Step 6. Display: Now simple leave your artwork out in the park or garden as a lovely surprise for someone to discover and enjoy.

You can sketch or photograph your creation or just be ready to discuss it at school on Friday.
